Well, Vanderbilt got their asses stomped by Florida in the semi-finals of the SEC tournament, but the best thing to come from beating Mississippi State is a 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
For all my friends who don’t know a thing about Vanderbilt and want to know why I’m so hyped, I offer this explanation. We are usually the doormats of the SEC and our fanbase is tiny compared with our SEC rivals. Our enrollment is less than 6,000 students who come from all over the world and either don’t give a shit about sports or lose interest after they graduate. Even if all 6,000 students cared, the numbers are against us with most of our rivals averaging 20,000 students per year. So when we do something good, we get excited that our lil’ skool dun sumethin’ good.
They didn’t play the Vanderbilt game on TV here in Denver, but I can honestly say I’m glad I had pay-per-view for once in my life.
