Poor me. Poor, bleeding edge me. I tried to upgrade to Firefox 0.9.1 tonight and screwed up my whole browsing world. I uninstalled 0.8 and thought everything would be OK for the installation of 0.9.1. Wrong! Wrong!

When I first launch Firefox, there is a blank window on the left where my RSS reader panel is supposed to be, but I haven’t even installed one yet. Damn…it looks like the extensions didn’t get wiped off the system. I can’t close the window either. So I try to get the RSS reader panel, but all I can find is Sage 1.1 which looks cool so I try it. It brings up what looks like a copy of my bookmark list and all I want are my syndication links. I start deleting everything but the syndications. Yeah, you’ve already guessed it. It actually brought up my bookmarks so I deleted everything. Luckily I anticipated my own stupidity and exported them before I upgraded.

I tried to add bookmarks to my bookmark toolbar. No bookmark toolbar. No bookmark toolbar? Only bookmark fubar. I can’t add anything to the toolbar anymore. Much sadness.

I’ll try to fix it all tomorrow. Or rollback to 0.8. Either way I’ll have to let the Mozilla folks know ’bout this one.

On a happy note, the upgrade to Thunderbird 0.7.1 went extremely well.

[Edit: I backed everything off and found that 0.9.1 created a different profile folder than 0.8. I deleted this folder from my local settings and reinstalled. Everything works!]
