Look at that picture. When I first saw it on the Nasa JPL site, I thought “WTF? That looks computer generated!”. It looks as if Nasa engineers took a perfectly round scoop of Neopolitan ice cream and dropped an Aerobie around it. Remember Aerobies? The amazing flying ring that you could only use if you owned a ranch?

Anyway, I realized that I’ve never really seen a good picture of Saturn. Every image I saw while growing up was from some terrestrial-based telescope, and Saturn’s rings didn’t look that defined. I was told in elementary school they were made of rocks and dust, which my unimaginitive mind assumed looked like debris in a dust storm. I didn’t expect them to look like a freakin’ paved highway.

The pictures in their whole gallery are just badass. Hmmm…maybe they’re all computer generated. Well, I still think Spirit and Opportunity have been eaten by Martians.
