I did it and I’m not proud. Actually, I am.
I got back into workout mode and needed something that held more tunes than my 1997 Sony MD player. I just got tired of switching discs and recording songs via analog (aka dubbing).
So I bought a 20GB iPod - my first second major splurge since I moved to Denver (forgot about my camera!).
What a difference this thing is compared to the MD player! Man, it’s just so nice and thin. I barely noticed it in my pocket walking to the train station. The only problem I have seen so far is when the adreneline is pumping during a run, it’s hard to use the click-wheel to precisely pick a song. My meat-paws just don’t have that level of control, but all that will be rectified with on-the-fly playlists. I haven’t figured those out yet, though.
I have to say that it’s such a quality product - easy to setup and figure out. Since there’s only the click-wheel on it and the polished metal back, it really feels solid. I already use iTunes at home so all I had to do was drag and drop albums to the device. Yeah, I know I can automatically synch my music, but I have 70GB of tunes so the iPod would have been full by the time I got to Hootie and the Blowfish. I mean Jane’s Addiction. That’s what I meant. Don’t look at me like that.
Coupled with the Blackberry for work, I’m a huge technodork.
