I just got back from night riding at Keystone. My ass is killing me and I think I tore my shoulder up. And I’m ready for more. I think this is the same sadistic mentality that attracted me to doing stupid things, such as skateboard and play rugby. Hmmm…it’s actually like both of those things rolled into one but neither has me hurt this badly.

I actually went upside down at one point. Luckily, my head broke my fall (thank you, Mr. Helmet) and my goggles ended up on the back of my neck. I won’t lie…I’m a speed freak and the only things getting in my way of breaking the 2 minute run from top to bottom are the stupid turns. I’m like a Scud missile - fast with no sense of direction. I almost had a yard sale going when I hit a steep turn but it was an awesome bust. I looked like a Frosty strapped to a snowy welcome mat.

Anyway, I wrenched my shoulder so hard that I actually walked down the mountain for a little bit…my confidence was so shaken that I was a bit gun-shy about tweaking my shoulder in another spill. I decided the only way to avoid hurting my shoulder was to not wreck. So I went straight down the hill. Fast. I eased on the toeside edge. The board turned. I eased on the heelside edge. The board turned again. I hit a groove in the snow probably made by someone who busted spectacularly. And I busted spectacularly. My shoulder was no worse, though, thank you for asking, and I was almost at the bottom of the run so I was happy to just coast on in.

I can’t wait until next week.
