Fishing Season that is. Colorado’s wildlife department finally stepped into the 21st century and allows us to buy licenses online, so I picked up my 2005 license. Of course, this was after I went and picked up a new reel.

I’ve been itching to buy another rod for packing in and out of the woods. A 9 foot, 2 piece rod just isn’t practical for hiking so I’m upgrading this year. I thought I’d go ahead a get a 4 weight, which should be big enough for the wind but light enough for a decent presentation. Anyway, I wanted to get the reel first since Orvis makes a nice medium arbor one that doesn’t break the bank. It’s the Battenkill Mid Arbor II. The large arbor reels look a bit too big for me so I settled on the mid-sized one. Here are some pics:

The plan is to head up next weekend and test it out. Here are the rods I’m looking to buy.

Let me know if you have an opinion on any of these rods.
